Understanding that God’s timing is far greater than my own is something I haven’t always been the best at acknowledging, but have quickly started to appreciate. There have been a few times I can recall having the chance to study abroad, but for “some reason” it never worked out. I’ve always had a desire to explore, travel, seek adventure, and try new things. If something urges me to get out of my comfort zone, sign me up! I know I can only grow as a person from the experience.
I have the privilege of studying Spanish at the Spanish-American Institute of International Education in Seville, Spain over winter break. I will be gone for 3 weeks (21 days to be exact), which is the longest I’ve been away from home. To say I am excited would be an understatement. This will be my first time studying abroad, so as you can imagine I am experiencing all sorts of emotions.
I will be staying with a host family, and I have no idea what to expect (expect the unexpected, right?!) I have always had a desire to speak and learn more about the Spanish culture and language since I can remember. I do have an educational background of the language: four years in high school, and two semesters in college. I’ve always found it fun to speak the language to others and have noticed I haven’t had much trouble learning it (I’m no expert by any means, but I like to consider myself intermediate).
I’m unsure of how much free time I will have to write in my blog while abroad, but I do plan to keep updates of my experiences.
